Ingredients:
- 1 loaf of day-old bread (sliced)
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 3 eggs (beaten)
- Olive oil for frying
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions:
- In a saucepan, heat the milk with the cinnamon stick and lemon zest. Let it simmer for a few minutes, then remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Dip the bread slices in the infused milk, soaking them well.
- Dip each slice in the beaten eggs.
- Heat olive oil in a frying pan and fry each slice of bread until golden brown on both sides.
- Mix the sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl. While the torrijas are still warm, coat them in the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
- Serve warm, either as a dessert or a sweet breakfast treat.
