Canelons (Catalan-Style Cannelloni)

 


Ingredients:

  • 12 sheets of lasagna pasta (or pre-made cannelloni tubes)
  • 400g ground beef and pork mixture
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 200ml tomato sauce
  • 100g grated cheese (such as Parmesan or Manchego)
  • 1/2 cup béchamel sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a pan, heat olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until softened.
  3. Add the ground meat and cook until browned. Stir in the tomato sauce, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Boil the pasta sheets according to package instructions or use pre-made cannelloni tubes.
  5. Fill each pasta sheet with the meat mixture and roll them up to form cannelloni. Place them in a baking dish.
  6. Pour béchamel sauce over the cannelloni (optional) and sprinkle with grated cheese.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
