Fërgesë Tirane (Baked Cheese with Peppers)

 A traditional dish from Tirana, this is a creamy mix of cheese, peppers, and tomatoes.



Ingredients:

  • 400g cottage cheese or ricotta
  • 2 green peppers
  • 1 onion
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Sauté the vegetables: In a pan, melt butter and sauté chopped onion and peppers until soft. Add diced tomatoes and cook until the liquid evaporates.
  2. Add the cheese: Stir in the flour, then fold in the cheese until everything is mixed. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Bake: Pour the mixture into a baking dish and bake at 200°C (390°F) for 20 minutes until golden.
