Speca të Mbushura (Stuffed Peppers)

This dish is a staple in many Albanian households.



Ingredients:

  • 6 bell peppers
  • 200g rice
  • 300g ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • Salt, pepper, and parsley

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the filling: Sauté onions and ground meat. Add diced tomatoes, rice, and seasoning, and cook for about 10 minutes.
  2. Stuff the peppers: Cut the tops off the peppers and remove the seeds. Stuff them with the meat and rice mixture.
  3. Bake: Place the stuffed peppers in a baking dish, add a bit of water or tomato sauce, and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30-40 minutes.
